Broccoli and Ricotta Thin Crust Pizza
Today we felt like having something cheesy for dinner, and there it was decided that nothing else but pizza has to be for dinner. I make pizza very often at home and its loved by everybody and we can eat them anytime.
We enjoy thin crust pizza more than a regular ones. I like my pizza on a crunchier side loaded with vegetables and fair amount of cheese. But this time I decided to bake one using white sauce. When kids heard this, their immediate reaction was broccoli in a pizza no ways, but I convinced them to try
it. Now that the toppings were pretty clear in my mind when I saw a beautiful broccoli and ricotta lying in the refrigerator. I was not sure what would be the end result would be, but when it out of the oven, this one was an absolute winner.
- Pizza dough (recipe given below)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 ½ cups fresh ricotta cheese
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
- 1 tsp chopped fresh oregano or ½ tsp dried
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cups blanched fresh broccoli florets
- Salt to taste
- Grated mozzarella cheese
- Preheat oven to 220 degrees C.
- On a floured surface roll out the pizza dough as thin as you would like using a rolling pin. Transfer it to a pizza pan and brush with olive oil. Bake for 3 -4 minutes.
- In a medium bowl mix together ricotta, garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, and parmesan. Spread the cheese mixture onto the pre baked crust. Top with some blanched broccoli and sprinkle over grated mozzarella. Bake for another 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and crust starts to brown around the edges.
